THE IDENTITY OF SONSHIP
THE IDENTITY OF SONSHIP
Some of us didn’t grow up with fathers, while others had fathers who were present but absent. As a result, relating to God as Father can feel unfamiliar or challenging. However, even if human fathers were absent or failed in their roles, it's still possible to establish a meaningful fatherly relationship with God as your heavenly Father.
Some of us, we have fathers who are present or they are absent. Some of us, we didn't grow up with our fathers. I am one of them. I didn't grow up with my father. So when I gave my life to Jesus, it was hard for me to accept, it was hard for me to see, to view God as a father. It was hard for me because, god, how can I call you father, how can I see you as a father when I don't have any earthly father in my life?
Speaker 1:When I read the scripture, we come across this title of God God is father. Would you truly understand and believe that God is indeed a father? Some of you who were brought up in a home, whether it's mom, whether it's dad, you will get it because your father played a role in your life. So it's easier for you to see God as a father. If your father is of God, he will display certain characteristics that resembles God, display certain characteristics that resembles God. That is why God keeps emphasizing that you and I, our goal at the end of the day is to be like God. It's to be like God, whatever God is. That's what God wants you and I to be. So how God helped me to transition my mindset, to believe him and to see him as a father. Is this through the song? I don't know if you guys know the song, but it says behold what manner of love the father has given us, that you and I should be called children of god. I will sing this song to myself.
Speaker 2:Behold what manner of love the Father has given unto me. Behold what manner of love the Father has given unto me. Behold what manner of love the Father has given unto me. Behold what manner of love the father has given unto you. Your manner of love. The father has given that we should be called the children of God. Behold, behold, what manner of love the Father has given unto us. Behold what manner of love the Father has given unto us that we should be called the children of God, that we should be called children of God.
Speaker 1:One of your identities is this you are a son of God, you are a daughter of God. Scripture reference is coming from John, chapter 1, verse 12 to 13. Look what it says. If you have your Bible, I want you guys to turn to John, chapter 1, verse 12 to 13. But as many as received him, but as many as received it, which qualifies anyone, anyone as many as received him to. Then he gave the right to become children of God To those who believe in his name, who were not born. So you being a child of God. It's not a human, physical process.
Speaker 1:Jesus is going to explain to us how we came about having the right to be called children of God. He explains the process here. It states who we are born. So you became a child of God. It's not as a result of physical birth. It's a different type of birth and Jesus is outlining that type of birth.
Speaker 1:It says who were born not of blood. That is he saying that a you are a child of God, not because of your parents, not because of your mom and dad, not because of any physical transaction. It's as the result of what? No, of the will of the flesh. You didn't decide to make yourself a child of God. You didn't decide to call yourself a daughter of God. You didn't decide to call yourself a son of God. It is not your will. It is not as a result of your parents. We need to understand this. That is why salvation is very important. And it says not the will of man. Your pastor cannot make you born again. Your pastor cannot make you born again. Your pastor cannot make you a child of God. Your pastor cannot make you a daughter, son of God. Not the will of man. Three emphasis here not the will of your blood parents, not the will of yourself, not the will of any man. Oh, I love this, but look what it says. It says, but of god, powerful. So you are a son and a daughter. As a result of who? God? That should blow your mind. What makes you to feel special? It doesn't matter my height. It doesn't matter my skin complex. It doesn't matter my height. It doesn't matter my skin complexion, it doesn't matter my status in life. I am of God. I am a son of the living God.
Speaker 1:John, chapter 8, verse 40 to 41. But now you seek to kill me. Jesus is so blunt. He said okay, guys, you want to kill me. Why do you want to kill me, a man who has told you the truth which I heard from God? You want to kill me because I told you the truth that I heard from God. You want to kill me because of that. You know that you can get killed for speaking the truth. When you speak the truth, people don't like you. This is why people like you. Because you lie. People like you because you lie, but when? Because you lie. But when you are attentive to yourself, when you speak the truth, some people that don't like you will leave. We should start practicing speaking the truth. Amen and expect people are not going to like you. But look what it says to those who believe Abraham did not do this. Oh, you call abram your father. He didn't do that. You do the deeds of your father.
Speaker 1:Now jesus saying that I know who your father is because why are you killing me if, if, if, you love me, you won't kill me, you'll be on my side? We don't have the same father. But jesus said I know who your father is. Then they said to him we were, we were not born of fornication. We have one father, god. They have the audacity to insult Jesus. Can you imagine they say Jesus, you are a bastard, you are a son of fornication. Blasphemy, jesus, you are Okay, oh God. The only people in the Bible that Jesus was so hard on them, jesus was fighting back, was the religious people. They were so religious saying that that, jesus, you are a son of a bastard, you are a son of fornication. Jesus, you don't have a father. Who's your father? Joseph didn't birth you. Mary conceived you with another man. That was the insult on Jesus. We're not like you, jesus. We don't have a father. You don't even have a father Jesus You're talking to us about. Oh God, is your father? Are you mad? We know your history, we know your family. I was laughing. I'm like, wow, these people have the audacity to insult Jesus. But look at the response of Jesus. Jesus said to them if God were your father, you see, the struggle was between relationship with God. That is the struggle Since Adam and Eve. In Genesis, when Satan tempted Adam and Eve, questioned if they were indeed made in the image and likeness of God. They failed that test and Satan tempted Jesus twice, trying to question, trying to place doubt in the mind of Jesus, saying that, jesus, if you are conditional, if you are the son of God, twice we struggle because of identity. We struggle because of identity. Are you sure you are a son of god? Twice we struggle because of identity. We struggle because of identity. Are you sure you are a son of god? If you are a son of god, why do you live in a shelter? If you're a son of god, why do you work in the factory? If you're a son of god, why are you sick? Jesus was the son of God. He was still hungry. That is the demonic question that Sita will put in your head. If, if, oh, musumba, elder, elder, lydia, if you're a daughter of God, why, why, why Place with your head for you to question your identity? So it's nothing new. It's nothing new. He did that in the garden. He tried that with the second Adam, jesus, and he's trying the same thing with you. Look what Jesus said If God were your father, you would love me.
Speaker 1:If God, if you claim that God is your father, the God of Abraham, isaac and Jacob, if that's your God, you would love me. You would love me. You don't want to kill me. Why do you want to kill me? For I proceed forth and came from God. Nor have I come of myself, but he sent me.
Speaker 1:Why do you not understand my speech? Because you're not able to listen to my word. You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning. Jesus was blunt, he wasn't playing around. So you know what. I know why. I know why you're doing this, because I know who your father is. Your father is the devil. You act like your father. He's a murderer. That's why you want to kill me.
Speaker 1:You see, child of God, one of the role of a son. We're gonna get there. You are a representation of your father. If you claim that God is your father, you have to reflect his attributes. If God is love, you have to be loving. If you claim that God is your father and you're gossiping, you want to kill people, then you are of the father, the devil. That's how it is. But if you claim that God is your father, god in the heavens is your father. Reflect him in your character. Reflect him how you treat him.
Speaker 1:One of the reasons why Jesus came to declare the Father to us, to reveal who God is. Remember. God is all about relationship. God is three in one, even the Trinity God is Father, god is Son, god is Spirit. Three in one. And the first human institution that God established was family. God created a man, adam, eve and children. Three in one, so the number three signifies unity. So God is personal, god is relational. God is all about family Because God is all about family. The Bible says For God, so loved the world that he gave. God is all about family. The Bible says for God, so loved the world that he gave.
Speaker 1:God is saying that I created mankind to have fellowship with me. I created human beings initially to have a relationship with me. But guess what? They failed. They sinned against me. But you know what? I am going to send my son to come and tell my other sons about me, their father. You know God did. God said my faithful son, my loyal son, my committed son. I love my earthly rebellious sons. The Bible said while you know we're sinners, christ died for us. Wow, wow. Is that? You know what, my son? I need to get back and I need, I need, I need that relationship, I need, I need my relationship with my earthly children. How is that gonna happen? Because sin, sin, has pushed them far away from me. What is sin? Sin is separation from you and God. God is saying no, no, I cannot be separated from you. I cannot be separated from you. I need to do something about this. I need to do something about this separation. You know what I'm going to do. No one is qualified to make it happen.
Speaker 1:But you my son, but you my son, jesus, I want you to go down because I love them so much. That is why, when jesus was on the cross, he, oh god, when jesus was on the cross. He said the last words of jesus before he left his ghost.
Speaker 2:He said my father why?
Speaker 1:have you forsaken me? Forsaken me. The one and only son was forsaken. So that all of us, sons and daughters, come back and have that relationship with God, powerful Jesus, god is saying that I'm going to forsake you just one minute, so I can bring Moses back, I can bring Anna back. Bring, I can bring Moses back. I can bring Anna back. I can bring Morris back. I can bring my last children back. Jesus, just hold on. Just hold on. I just want you to accomplish a mission for me. Just just hold on. He said my father, why have you forsaken me? Jesus was trying to escape salvation when he was saying that, god, this cup is too much for me. But God, you know what the picture will be done. Jesus was doing that just for you and I to restore our broken relationship with our Heavenly Father.
Speaker 1:Now let's go to the concept of sonship, fatherhood. The word father has different usage and application. In the bible it means a male figure who acts as a parent. It means um, the first. That starts something. So the word itself, by definition, father means a source, a creator, a producer. God is a father, a source, a producer, and sometimes and sometimes, it also means a place of authority, a place of authority.
Speaker 1:So we have God calling himself a father. He didn't say I'm God the mother. I know there's some people that preach oh, there's God the mother, there's God the daughter. No, no, no, no. There's no God, god the mother, god the daughter. There's only God the father and God the son.
Speaker 1:Don't bring that gender feminist nonsense here. It doesn't work. It doesn't work on me. Amen, it doesn't work. There's no God the daughter, god the mother.
Speaker 1:You might think God is biased. No, it's not. There's a reason why Language is very key, amen. So God is saying what we know. God identify himself as a father to us, period. If you have a problem with that, take it to God. Because somebody in class was asking me way back why is why? Why do you call God father? Why can't you call her mother? I say you got a problem with that and take it to Jesus then amen, so so. But the word itself came from a German word. It means foda, and it's so powerful that it's a nourisher, a protector and an upholder Foda From the word in German, fada, foda An uplifter, a nourisher and a protector.
Speaker 1:Now, if we look at the word son itself, it means a male person, young or old. Have you guys noticed something? You will call your son when he is, let's say, an infant. You will call especially parents. You will call your son when he's a boy, when he's a teenager. But do you know that you also continue to call your son when they are adults? You continue to call your sons when they are seniors, when you're old.
Speaker 1:When it comes to God, one of the things that makes all of us equal is that we are all children. There is no grandpa in the Lord, oh. There is no elder in the Lord. There is no mama in the Lord. You know. There is no mama. There is no such thing as mama in the Lord. There is no brother in the Lord. There is no uncle in the Lord oh in the lord. Oh, god, god, you know, they call me uncle on earth. They call me uncle, they call me brother, they call me papa. Ah no, no, god said no, no in heaven, not like that. I will address everyone equally. You are all sons and daughters of the so but? But let me just read quickly my notes here. The concept of sonship is gender and age neutral.
Speaker 2:It's gender and age neutral what do I mean by that?
Speaker 1:the concept itself doesn't specify male or female, old and young. When it comes to the Bible, sonship it's not about oh, all the boys are sons of God, the daughters are not. No, it's not about okay, all the young people are sons of God, the old people are not. Sons and daughters of God. No, it's not about gender and age. The word sons have been applied to the children of Israel, god's people. He called them children of Israel. So the idea of sonship started way back. So you have the human species. We are all created by God. I can call an unbeliever that, hey, you are a son of God. That's true. It's a true statement. It's a true statement. You are because you were created by God.
Speaker 1:So, from that level, from human species, angels, angels are called sons of God Because the Bible says the sons of God appear before God. Even Satan himself is a son of God. Satan himself is a son of God. They appear before God to report to god in the book of job. So you have angels being referred to as sons of god, you have the human race, like the creation, referred to as sons of god, and you also have adam referred to as the sons of god, and then you have the children of israel referred to as the sons of god, and now the final children of god is us as believers. So have you seen the pattern from the all the way from genesis, all the way down god? God is saying I want children, I want children. God is relational. God is saying that I have heavenly children they're angels but I want earthly children. That is why, when we go to heaven, what God is doing is to bring one big family which includes the angels, which includes us as believers. That is the end result. So bring about one huge family.
Speaker 1:Now let's look at the four R's. Relationship is one of them. Relationship is by believing, being born again, belonging and becoming. What do I mean by that? You are a child of God as a result of relationship, and that relationship came about you believing in Jesus. And second, when you believe in Jesus, you're born again, not of blood, none of your own will, not the will of man, of God. You believe one again. You believe there's a process, relationship. Believe one again. And the second is belong, belong, belong. That is why God is all about the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God, you know, we're going to heaven because that's where we belong. We are citizens of heaven, not only to belong, but to become. To become as well, because we have to reflect our father, like father, like son.
Speaker 2:I've even wonder why.
Speaker 1:Jesus will always say when I see, whatever I see my father does, that's what I do. Whatever I hear from my father, that's what I do. Whatever I hear from my father, that's what I speak, why he's a reflection of his father. God wants you and I to reflect him in our speech, in our conduct, in our thinking, in our feeling, how we treat one another. So you don't just want to, you don't just use that name. Oh, I'm a son of God and you behave like a son of devil. It's a lie, it's not gonna work. If you're gonna use god's name, make sure you reflect his characteristics, make sure you walk as your father walks. If god is kind, you have to be kind. You have no choice. You have to be kind because that name is powerful, that name is holy amen. One of them is one how? How do you now establish that relationship is it's through salvation, through salvation. So that gives you the first step and I realized that that relationship came about.
Speaker 1:Blood covenant, just as human blood, when it comes to family blood is involved. Have you ever noticed why blood has to do with family? And then witches and wizards, the youth blood. Blood, when it comes to family, alt is involved. Have you ever noticed why blood has to do with family? And then witches and wizard, the youth blood. Blood, when it comes to family, alters. God established the same pattern too, jesus christ. His blood was shed on the cross, so you and I, oh god. His blood was shed as a result, to establish a covenant. His blood was shed to establish a covenant of a new family. So blood is necessary to have a family.
Speaker 1:The reason why, let's say, for example, my family is the Kalon family, right, what makes all of us part of the Kalon family is our bloodline. What makes every member in the Kalon family my sister, my mother, my uncle, my cousins, all of us have that name. Kalon is as a result of what we call bloodline. So God is saying that if all of you are going to be my children, there has to be one thing that connects all of us to God. That is what the blood of Jesus. That is thicker, stronger than any other blood.
Speaker 1:So, uncle Moses, look at me very well. I am related to you. I don't have to be from Uganda. I'm your blood brother. As a result of what? The blood of Jesus. What's your name? Yeah, what's your name? Mercy? I am your brother. I don't belong in your family physically, but I'm your brother because of the born blood of Jesus Christ.
Speaker 1:Amen, I'm like God. You've taken me to another level. Now I see God differently. I can come boldly. Papa, your son is here.
Speaker 1:I used to see myself as a servant, servant of God, worker, worker in the ministry. When I'm going through problems, I never cry out Abba. God is saying cry out, abba, my son, where are you Now? When I go into presence, I'm like God, your son is here, I will boast in his presence. I'm like god, your son is here, I will boast in his presence. I say, god, your son is here and, as a father, you have the responsibility to take care of me. As a father, you have the responsibility to take care of me. That is your risk me to have a responsibility to to obey my father.
Speaker 1:Some of us would like to claim, we'd like to claim rights, but God is saying Are you an obedient child? You understand, mommy, buy me a biscuit. But mommy is saying Are you cleaning the house? Israel, you want PS5? Musumba is asking you Go wash dishes? You say, mommy, no, it's not like that. Amen. You know what's funny too. What makes Okay, oh God, the Bible is so wonderful Before we have family, and I know things happen in life where single mother, single father, things happen. I know you're the judge, but God puts a system in place Marriage, husband and wife. Marriage, husband and wife, no children. When children are involved, that's when you have the right to use the word father. When children are involved, that's when you have the right to use the title father. So fatherhoodo is responsibility. Don't just pregnant ladies, god was telling me. Don't just pregnant ladies, god was telling me. Don't just pregnant ladies Thinking that you will not be a father to them. Don't just carry the name I'm a father. Oh God, god forgive me.
Speaker 1:I remember when my father called me. I don't even know how he got my number. I think he got my number from my grandmother. I see my grandfather as my father. He was speaking in my language. I didn't even understand. I know he was speaking in my language. I didn't understand. I know what's calling me for money. No, we know people. Africa calls you for money.
Speaker 1:Right, was saying that me. Begin my son. Long time ago. You know I forsook, I forsook you. I wasn't there in your life, I was.
Speaker 1:I'm like this guy, like I don't know you from Adam. You know. And then and I'm like what are's this guy? I don't even know you from Adam. And I'm like what are you saying? Who are you? I'm your father. You're not going to scam me. Father, for what you won't scam me. I said I'm not your father. I think there was a friend beside him. This is, forgive him. This is your father, your born blood father. I said are you mad father, your blood father? I saw you mad. One blood father, for what. You're not gonna scam me. It's not gonna work. We got have mercy on me. My mom said that that was your father called. He didn't recognize his voice because you don't know him. Two weeks later he passed away. I would have saved his life if I would have listened to them and not to hold any bitterness and anger against my father, maybe that would have been an opportunity, I was still saved.
Speaker 1:That would have been an opportunity for me to pray for him and to forgive him, to accept him, but I said I disown him. Women, women, don't ever do this to your children. I'm begging you. My mom did this to me, but I forgive her. Yes, you had a bad experience with a man. He wasn't there for you. I understand it happens, but don't take the privilege away from them knowing your father. Don't take the privilege away from your children having a relationship with your father. Don't take the privilege away from your children having a relationship with your father. Don't take the privilege away from your children knowing who their father is. If you don't want to be with him, it's okay. It's okay. Don't take that away. Don't take that away.
Speaker 1:When I was young because I struggle with rejection, especially from my mom my mom never said that she loved me. I have to tell my mom that I love her. You know African people. We're not very expressive. This is what's in our line about white people. I love you, baby. I love you, my mom. She wouldn't even dare say baby, I love you.
Speaker 1:Come here, do this, go over there. Come pick up the garbage, mama lower, come here. Do this? Go over there. Oh, prime, come pick up the garbage. Mama, lower your voice, speak, speak nicely. We as africans, mama, do you tell your children that you love them with words, with words? Wonderful, I found them, my daughter, you did well in school. Oh, clap for Jesus, my daughter. You're so beautiful, my daughter, come let me love you, my daughter. I love you, my son, even though he's misbehaving. Tell him that. Don't do that again. Oh, he's punky. I love you, come back, I love you. You have to tell them that you love them. I had a dream because I was struggling with this rejection and then God was saying that in this dream, my mom and I was very young, my mom and my dad. They were arguing and they pushed me aside and I was crying. It's like they were arguing. My dad was like I don't want.
Speaker 1:I don't want you, I don't want the baby. My mom got kicked out of the house. It's actually a real like. My mom actually told me this story in real life, but I saw it in my dream. That's how strange it was. In real life it happened. My mom got kicked out. She didn't want me.
Speaker 1:My grandfather you know African parents are very strict. My mom was young. My grandfather was like oh no, no, no, it was my grandmother who secretly took me in, raised me from the village. See me, I'm a village boy. I came from the village, a village called Nikabu. I was not from the city. I never imagined that I would be in Canada. I came from a remote when I say very remote village, remote village. I didn't wear any pants, I was just butt naked, no slippers, running around like a madman Village boy. And then, when I saw that dream, I was crying. My cry was calling my mom and my dad hey guys, be at peace, don't abandon me.
Speaker 1:Children, parents, please, I'm begging you. I'm not just preaching for the sake of preaching. Whatever you do, husband and wife, in front of your children, mom and dad, it's a seed that you're planting in their hearts. If you're rejecting them, they're going to feel that rejection. If there's hatred in the home, they're going to feel hatred. If there's love in the home, they're gonna feel hatred. If there's love in the home, they're gonna feel love. That is just the fact of life and that's when god started healing me because of time. So one of the hours is this relationship and the other one is role. This is where now we at times. Our role is this we are children and we need to behave as children.
Speaker 1:Look what Jesus says in 1 John, chapter 2, verse 28. And now little children abide in him. So Jesus actually called you and I little children. So with God there is no seniority. It doesn't matter, you can stand before God. God, I'm the elder, god, I'm a 69 years old man. You can talk to me anyhow. It. God, I'm the elder, god, I'm a 69 years old man, can't talk to me anyhow, it's a lie. God can talk to you anyhow, you are a little child. To god. He says my little children abide in me. And then, in mark, jesus also called his disciples children.
Speaker 1:How hard is it for those who trust in riches to enter the kingdom of god? And then in 1 John, chapter 2, verse 28, look what it says, and now the children abide in him that when he appears we may have confidence and not a shame before him as he comes. So that word little children, little children, we like children to God. You see, when you come to God, come to God as a child. A child is humble. A child is dependent. A child is dependent. A child is trustworthy. A child is innocent. A child is willing to learn.
Speaker 1:We adults it's very hard to as advice to young people who want to get married don't expect to change your spouse. They are growing old adults refusing to to change. They're resistant to change. It's very hard to change your spouse, so make sure you pray to god. Give me somebody who's already changed. Ah, I don't know. I don't think you guys make god. God, give me someone who is already changed.
Speaker 1:Men or women, especially women. If you're planning to change your husband, like, it's not going to work. Men or women, especially women. If you're planning to change your husband, la la, it's not going to work. After 30 years of bad habits, you expect God to come and say, oh, I will marry him, he will change, he will become a believer. Are you God? Are you mad? He wants to die. He won't die in this church. Amen. No, don't try that, don't try that.
Speaker 1:So we are children of God, that's our role and I want you to see yourself as a child of God. See yourself as that, not a responsibility. That is why at times, it's very hard for us to reflect God, because we don't work in His way and sons and daughters carry their parents' lineage. Son and a daughter continues their parents' nature and name. A son and a daughter continue their parents' nature and name. Nature in a sense that whatever your father and mother is, you will carry it because that blood is still in you. That is why we have family altars. This helped me to understand family altars. So whenever I'm fighting family altars, I'm replacing the blood of my physical family with my new family, the blood of Jesus.
Speaker 1:When you know the truth, the truth will set you free. It is our responsibility as children of God to obey the word of the Father. I'll just read one scripture because of time Proverbs, chapter 1, verse 8,. It says my son, hear the instruction of your father and do not forsake the love of your mother. When you read the entire book of Proverbs, that phrase my son, my son father is giving instruction to his son, my son. Oh, listen to my word, my son, pursue wisdom, my son, pursue understanding. Is God actually saying that? If you're going to be my son, pursue understanding. So, young people, if you're going to claim to be a child of God, your responsibility is to learn. Next time when you come to church, bring your back, bring your pen, bring your pencil and take notes. Learn about your God, learn about your father.
Speaker 1:Another, another responsibility from us is worship the father. Worship the father. According to um, luke, chapter 4 verse. It says and Jesus answered and said to him get behind me, satan, for it is written, you shall worship the Lord, your God, and him only you shall serve. And then, in Exodus, chapter 4, verse 22 to 23, says then you shall say to Pharaoh, thou says the Lord, israel is my son. Again, god is saying that Israel is my son, my firstborn. So I say to you let my son go that he may serve me. So you are a son with a responsibility to serve God. You are a son with a responsibility to worship God. Another responsibility of being a son or a daughter is you are. It's your responsibility to do the will of your father. According to Jesus himself, matthew, chapter 12, verse 47 to 50 says. Then one said to look to him, look your mother and your brothers and and are standing outside seeking to speak to you.
Speaker 1:But he answered and said to the one who told him who is my mother jesus was not trying to relate with people on a physical level. They always want to make jesus christ. Oh jesus, you have physical mother, you have physical brother. Jesus put them straight. He said I will tell you, guys who my mother is, who my father is, who's who my brother is. It's not Mary. That you see. It's not just that. You see. He was thinking ahead of time. He said I'm about my father's business. At the age of 12 he said I'm about my father's business. But the man has a father. Young boy has a father, adopted father Joseph. Why is he saying that about my father's business?
Speaker 2:they couldn't understand so jesus said, he looked around, he said okay, who is my mother, who is my brother?
Speaker 1:and he stretched out his hand toward his disciples and said here are my mother, here are my brothers, for whoever does the will of my father in heaven is my brother and sister. Amen. And lastly, you are a child of god when you walk like your father. When you walk like your father look what it says in first john, chapter 3, verse 10.
Speaker 1:In this, children of god and the children of the devil are manifested. This is how you know if you're a son of god, if you're a son of the devil by your fruit. Look what it says whoever does not practice righteousness is not of god. So if you're going to claim that god is your father, you have to reflect god in your walk, in your lifestyle, in your way, in righteousness in wisdom, in love and kindness.
Speaker 1:And then now look what it says e Ephesians, chapter 5, verse 22. Therefore, be imitators of God as their children and walk in love. We have to imitate. We have to be imitators of God as their children. So if God is our father and we are God's children is saying you have to imitate me, that is your responsibility to imitate god. Amen. And then your rights. Your right, that is the last hour. Your rights, jesus said in john, chapter 1, verse 12 but as many has received him to, dare me, give the right to become children of god to those who believe in him. So what right do you carry as a child of god? You carry the right to have the name of jesus. You carry the right to use the name of jesus wow, do you know how powerful that name is? You carry the name of your father. Jesus said when you're praying, start with this Abba, father, and in my name.
Speaker 2:So that's the right that you have.
Speaker 1:You carry the name of your father. It brings access and it brings blessing. Look at the blessing in 1 John 2, verse 12 to 14. Dear, I write to you, little children, because your sins have forgiven you for his name's sake. Wow, these are stages of spiritual maturity.
Speaker 2:Verse 13.
Speaker 1:I write to you, fathers, because you have known him, who is from the beginning Wow. And I write to you, young men, young women, because you have overcome the wicked one. Continues in verse 14. I write to you, little children, again, because you have known the father they said I have. I have written to you, fathers, because you have known him, who is from the beginning. And I've written to you, young man, because you are strong and the word of God abides in you. If you look at that particular verse in verse 14, it's all about knowing God. It's all about knowing God. So you cannot claim that God is your father and you have no clue about this God that you claim to be your father. You have to pursue knowledge about God. And finally, 2nd Corinthians, chapter 13, verse 14, it says the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all, amen.
Speaker 2:We read this verse.
Speaker 1:But do you know that this is the foundation of relationship? This is the foundation of relationship. Let me explain to you. I'll break them down into how God wants it to be. Number one, number one Love, love, love. If there's no love in any family, that family is going to be dysfunctional. Love is the foundation, love is the motivation. The Bible says in John 3, 16, for God, so loved, so attribute love from the Father. And the Father, by my definition previously, is a source, a beginner, an initiator. So we're seeing that God initiated this family from the motivation, the intention of love. So every family, including the family of God and in your own family, make sure you build on love. Look what it says in Malachi, chapter 4, verse 6. And he will turn the hearts of the father to the children. Love is the heart of the family. If God didn't have love for you and I, god will not sacrifice jesus.
Speaker 1:If god didn't have love for you, god will not sacrifice jesus so love has to be the foundation in any family.
Speaker 1:Learn this principle and apply it in your own family. Make sure love reigns in your family. Number two grace, grace. Because there are no perfect members in that family. Your husband is not perfect, your wife is not perfect, your children are not perfect. What do you need to do every day? Extend grace. Love is the foundation and Jesus, the Bible said, is the fullness of grace. Oh my god. What defines god as a father is love. What defines jesus as the son is grace. The father gave us love. He said these children? They're rebellious, they're rebellious, but the senate center, papa, I'm grace. Now look at me, I am Grace. Extend Grace to your children. Extend Grace to your children. Extend Grace, love, grace, love from the father, grace from the son. Now, all of them have a rule. Oh God, oh God, holy Spirit. That was not enough. Love, grace. Now look what it says. And the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. That is the connection, that is the fellowship. You know, what Jesus said is didn't want you just to go.
Speaker 1:It's not very selfish it's a Jesus, stay with us. But just said, are you mad? It's better for me to go. So I will send a helper, I will send a power clay, because when he comes he will oh my God, he will live in you. He will tell you about me, he will tell you about your father, he will help you to relate with your father. The reason why you and I were able to relate with God is because of the communion of the Holy Spirit. All of them had a role to play. So in every family, learn this principle love grace and fellowship. Love grace and fellowship.
