Why Jesus came, I cannot wait for that. According to the prophet Isaiah in the Old Testament, the Old Testament revealed the purpose of Jesus. And Jesus was able to discover his purpose when he read the book of Isaiah. You see how powerful that is? So the secret for you to discover your purpose in life, it's from the word of God. You can know who you are from the word of God, and you can know what God has called you from his word. You don't have to look at self-help materials. You don't have to ask your teacher who you are and what you have been called to do. You don't even have to ask your parents because your parents, they're not God. Just as the woman of God said that you are spiritually formed before you are physically formed. So let's get your Bible to Isaiah 61, verse 1 to 3. So this is the Old Testament reference of Jesus' purpose. Amen. I'm gonna read the New Testament as our reference, scriptural reference. That is coming from Luke chapter 4, verses 4 to verses 17 to 19. It says, and he was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. Wow. Jesus was handed the book of prophet Isaiah, the book that the young lady has just read. Can you imagine? Jesus had access to the Bible. So I pity you and I, as believers, we don't carry our Bible. The reason why you perish is not because you don't pray. The reason why you perish is not because you don't come to church. You perish as a result of what? Lack of knowledge. Even Jesus, our Savior, had access to this book. This Bible, treasure for life. This Bible, you can discover everything in life. Any topic, relationship, school, business, it's in this book. Amen. So Jesus was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when he had opened the book, wow, he had opened the book. The thing that baffles my mind, he was so precise to know exactly the scriptural verse. Can you imagine? You have to be God to know exactly that this verse is speaking of you, to know exactly that this is your time. You have to be God. He found the place where it was written. He found, he found a place where it was written about himself. How can you find a place where it is written about yourself? As much as I'm talking about Jesus, I want you to also learn from him how you can identify your purpose so that we can take this and apply it in our own individual lives. Look what it says. Look what it says at the end after he read all of this. Today he was speaking at that real time. He said, Guys, today, today, this scripture, this verse that I'm reading, wow is fulfilled in your hearing. When you come to church, don't be familiar. It doesn't matter who's here, who's not here. When you come to church, let your focus and your heart be ready to hear from God. That is why at times we miss what God is saying. Because we want a prophet to touch us, we want to fall under the anointing. We want a prophet to call you. Hey, Auntie Paula, my sister, come here. Let me prophesy into your life. That's the only way you will know that God has spoken to you. But God is speaking through the preaching, through the teaching. I remember I went to a church just to give you guys a practical illustration. I'm like, God, I want to hear you. I was going through a lot. We all go through some things in life. God, I'm going through a lot. I want, I want that rhym. I want that specific word from you, God. You know, I don't want to just read any scripture. I want to find a place in the scripture that concerns my situation. So I was expecting for the prophet to call to call me up. Oh, Brian Crumb. This is what God is saying about your situation. Lala, it didn't happen. I was sitting down there, the prophet did not call my name at all. Say, ah, God, you didn't speak to me. But but the Holy Spirit whispered in my earlier I was speaking to you while my servant was preaching. I was speaking to you while my servant was preaching. But you have a way of hearing my voice. You want somebody to call you up to tell you about your past, to tell you about deep things about your life. It didn't happen. And then if you realize that I didn't speak to you, I spoke to you. You were not paying attention to what I was saying to you. So I pleaded with everybody, believe in me. Embrace the scripture. God has left us with a Bible. That is why I love this book. My entire life I dedicated myself to study the scripture. And this book has saved me from so many errors. Embrace this book. Let me continue to read. He says, Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing. Before we get to all the things that Jesus was doing, I want us to identify the role of Jesus in terms of like it's his titles. Most times we're familiar that Jesus is the rabbi, he's a teacher, is his chief shepherd, the master physician, the law, the prophet. That is his role as entitled. That is his role. He's a prophet, he's a teacher, he's the Lord. But we want to know his responsibilities. We want to know his responsibilities. And when you read the entire gospel, John, Matthew, Luke, and Mark, we see all this. I believe there are seven functions of Jesus. If Jesus is not preaching, the man is teaching. If Jesus is not teaching, the man is healing. If Jesus is not healing, the man is casting out demons. If Jesus is not casting demons, his discipling is the disciples. If Jesus is not doing that, he's leading. At times, he's feeding as well. So these are all the responsibility of ministry. If you look at it, these are all the responsibility of us as church to do what? To teach, to preach, to heal, to cast, to feed, to disciple, to heal, to do all this amazing thing. Jesus said, greater works you can do for us. It's the reason why we don't know our purpose because we don't know the purpose of Jesus. That is why we are lost. You need to know who your maker is so that you can reflect your maker. Look at the context in which this this um when Jesus opened the book of Isaiah. It's kind of strange because when I read this book, the people of Nazareth where Jesus is from. Oh God. The Bible says, so he came to Nazareth where he had been brought up. Yes. Jesus was brought up in Nazareth. Okay. And as the custom, he went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up to read. Jesus not only had the Bible, Jesus went to church. Jesus not only had the Bible, Jesus went to church as the custom of the day. Jesus as a man went to church. Jesus as a man had access to the Bible. So I pity us as believers when we fail to come to church and we only come to church because we want something from God. Yes, God can give you whatever it is that you want. But are you coming to church because you want something from God? Or are you coming to church because you want a relationship with God? When you desire a relationship with God, you will stay in that church because you're not coming for what God can do for you. You're not coming to pick a woman, you're not coming to pick a man, you're not coming for anything else. You're coming for God. And no matter the challenges that you are facing, you will stay, you will remain because you are in love with God. And the reason why you will bounce out is because you don't love God. That is why a guy will come into your life, sisters, and say, I love you. That love, you cannot just meet somebody and love them today. That's lost. You're falling in love and then you fall out of love. True love remains. God wants true love. So Jesus, as the custom of the day, went to church. And that opportunity came for him to know his purpose. As she came to church each and every day, when okay, do you know the concept of church started way back with Adam and Eve? When the Bible said God will come in the call of the day to interact with them. And then God asked Moses, build a temporary tabernacle so that I can meet my people. It's called a tabernacle of meetings so that God can meet his people. So the concept of gathering, of assembling, we can get it all the way back to the Old Testament. So it's good to come to church because when you come to church, this is the place where you can feel God, where you can sense God. When you go home, you feel so relieved. I don't know about you, but when I come to church, when I go home, all the burdens that I've carried throughout the week, they're all lifted up. You have to come to church with the with the right attitude. The Bible says the spirit of the Lord was upon him. In order for you to do anything for God, you need the Spirit of God. If you want to do anything for God, because the things of God they are spiritual. If you want to sing for God as a choir worshiper, you need the Holy Spirit. If you want to preach for God, you need the Holy Spirit. Even Jesus Himself, being the Son of God, the Bible says the Spirit of God was upon him. If you read the entire Old Testament, whenever you hear that phrase, the Spirit of God upon somebody, they always do something very significant and something very supernatural. When you have the Spirit of God, you're not average. Ah God. When you have the Spirit of God, you produce results. When you have the Spirit of God upon you, you make impact. When you have the Spirit of God, you change life. When you have the Spirit of God, you make a difference. So for Jesus to make the difference, for Jesus to execute all of this responsibility, the Bible started with what? The Spirit of God was upon him.

Wow.

SPEAKER_00:

What's up on him before God sent him to heal? You cannot heal if you don't have the Holy Spirit. You cannot preach, you cannot feed, you cannot do anything for God if you don't have the Holy Spirit. It's a person, it's not just power, it's a person that lives in you. He lives in you to direct you, he lives in you to empower you, he lives in you to enable you, he lives in you to equip you. And Jesus had the Holy Spirit. And that word anointed, it means that in the Old Testament, when you are chosen for a position of influence, it could be to be a priest, a king, or a prophet. Those are the three offices that tend to be anointed: kings, prophets, and priests. And Jesus was all of that. He was he is the king of kings, the priest, and he's the prophet. So he was anointed. He was anointed. Meaning that God approved what he was gonna do. God approved Jesus. But now look. God the father sent God the Son. Look at the entire package of our salvation, how it happened. God the Father started this. The Bible said, For God so loved the world that he gave. So God the Father sent his son because of the love that he has for you. Okay, that's what he did to fulfill his purpose. And then after that, now God the Spirit needs to empower God the Son to fulfill God the Father's purpose. What am I saying? Okay, the vision came from God the Father. My son, ah, these human beings, they are they are crazy. They are wicked, they are full of deceit. They are they are they are they are full of bitterness and anger? I don't want to destroy them in hell. I don't want them. I don't want them to. I created them. I don't want to send them in hell. What am I gonna do? No matter how many sacrifices cannot please me. I'm tired of all these bulls, I'm tired of all this blood sacrifice. I'm tired. Who am I gonna send? Who is holy? Who is sinless? Who is gonna die for this wretched man Brahim? Who is gonna die for this lying man Brahim? Who's gonna die for you? Who is gonna die? And it and then the son said, Daddy, you know what? No, my will, but let you will be done. He said, Daddy, I know you love people so much. I want to please you, Daddy. I am I'm sinless. I don't mind to come down and and pay the price for for for these people, and then okay, my son, go go. But my son, before you go, you're gonna need help because you're not gonna go as God, you're gonna go as a man. But for you to do my work, you need what my spirit to go with you. So for Jesus to do the work of God, he needed the Holy Spirit. He started off his ministry when he was baptized, and the Bible said the heavens was opened, and God said, This is my beloved son, in one more please. And then the Spirit of God sat upon his shoulder like a dove. Do you know why Jesus was saying that it's good for me to go? Because they wanted to make him to stay. He said, No, I gotta go. He said, When I go, I'm gonna send the helper. I want all of you guys to meet in the upper room. That day changed Christianity forever. So you know, you see the relevance. Why am I saying this? You see the essence of the Holy Spirit for everything for you to live this Christian life. My brother, my sister, my mothers, my fathers, you need the Holy Spirit. The Bible describes him as your paraclee, your helper. Even Jesus relied on the Holy Spirit. Who are you trying to use your human wisdom to do the work of God? Satan will slap you left and right. I remember one of my friends at York University, he was going through challenges. I was just a young believer trying to act as if I'm TD Jakes, you know, innocent, stupid, you know. I said, My brother, come down, kneel down, let me pray for you. We prayed for him. I went to bed at night. Bulls were chasing me. Oh, I was about to lose my life. I called my pastor. I said, Pastor, I had this dream. Bulls were chasing me from Nigeria. He said, What do you do? I said, Daddy, my friend is struggling in school, and I prayed for him. I would just act him by faith. He said, My son, I don't go to places where you have not been anointed since that day. Don't try it. Why am I saying this? You need the Holy Spirit to tackle certain issues in life, or else you die young because Satan doesn't play around. You know, when you preach, when you teach, when you heal, Satan doesn't like that. Oh God, Satan doesn't like that, he's your enemy, so that's why you need the Holy Spirit to guide you, to protect you. Amen. Let's continue. So the first thing that I learned about Jesus' mission involves to preach, to preach the gospel to the poor. Jesus was assigned by God to preach, meaning that to proclaim, to tell us about the good news. What is the gospel? We all know as Bible believers, the gospel is the good news. What makes it the good news? Anybody knows what makes the gospel the good news? Have you ever asked yourself why the gospel is the good news? Yes, Paula. Why why trumps down the bad news? So Jesus came to preach good news, and that good news. Oh my god, that good news is preached to the poor. Now you might wonder, but God, what about the rich? That is where you have to be a Bible student. The poor here is not just those who don't have money, those who don't have material possessions, right? The poor here is that anyone who is poor in the spirit, we are all poor in the spirit. It doesn't matter if you're rich or poor, you are poor in the spirit, and you need the gospel to be preached to you. You need the gospel to be preached to you. This good news of salvation, this good news of internal life, this good news of you being part of God's divine family, this good news of when you when you when you die, there's a place for you in heaven. Wow. When you die, there's a place for you in heaven. So proclaiming the gospel, the good news is proclaiming the truth of Jesus Christ. Another reason why Jesus Christ came is to heal the brokenhearted. How many of you have experienced broken hearts? All the ladies, you should. I know you guys have dated. I've experienced broken hearts. I've broken hearts too. I'm not gonna lie. Emotional pain is severe than physical pain. Physical pain, you can feel it, you can cry, mommy, mommy, and then you put on bandage and then you're healed. But emotional pain can last you for forever. I'm telling you. Emotional pain could be somebody breaks your heart, or you or you lost your father, your mom, or a business deal. I'm here to tell you that Jesus can heal your broken heart, your heart that has been shattered, your heart that has been oppressed. I'm here to let you know that Jesus can heal your broken heart. Then what Jesus can also do for you. Wow, this is amazing. To proclaim liberty to the captives. We are all prisoners. How many of you are struggling with an addiction? How many of you are struggling with drinking? Any form of addiction? I don't know what your addiction is. When you struggle with something for so long that you're not able to get out of it, you have fasted, you have prayed, you have you have you have gone to every man of God to seek solution? You are in captivity. So Jesus can give you real life solutions for real life problems. This blesses my heart. Are you in captivity of sin? Are you in captivity of lying? Are you in captivity of your own mental health? That is the world that we live in. Some people they're not comfortable with themselves. Some people they're not comfortable with who they are. That is captivity. Are you in captivity spiritually? When you go to bed, you cannot sleep. When I go to bed, I can't sleep. I've been struggling, sleeping. Serious matter. I've been struggling. Again, I'm I have to be real with you guys. I have my own. You struggle too, bro? I'm telling you. I'm here to be honest with you guys. I don't sleep. I don't know why I don't sleep. When I go to bed, when I go to bed, everything everything is okay. Everything is okay. But when I go to bed, when I try to close my eye, this mind takes me to a place that I don't want to go. I'm telling you, I'm being honest with you. That is my own captivity. This mind will bring issues from Sierra Leone. Will bring issues from I'm like, shut down. I'm like, I'm like, I will play loud music. What I sometimes what I do, I'll play loud music just to just to distract my mind. Sometimes I'll play all this instrumental music so that I can put myself to sleep like a baby. I'm telling you, that is my own captivity. I'm like, God, why is that I'm not able to sleep? During the day, I'm okay. During the day, my mind is free. But when I get to bed, anxiety comes in. Fear of failure, fear of the future. I said, God, why is this happening? Why am I not able to sleep? And I have to get up early to go to work. And guess what? I'll end up sleeping at work. I will close the door. I'm like, you know what? You have to knock. And then I will sleep for one good three hours at work. I'm being honest with you guys. This is my own captivity. I'm not able to sleep at night. But reading this shows that Jesus has come to proclaim, to announce freedom to those who are in captivity. Amen. Another thing that Jesus can do for you and I is this to provide recovery of sight to the blind. This is powerful. Because when I was looking at that, it doesn't mean that okay, Jesus came to heal those who were blind. That's one. Jesus came to heal you if you're physically blind because the Bible is very symbolic, the Bible is very spiritual, right? So Jesus came to heal those who were blind. But do you know that you can be mentally blind, you can be spiritually blind. When you are blind, you're not able to make decisions effectively. When you are blind, you don't know your left and your right. Young people, I plead with you, don't be blind mentally, don't be blind spiritually, because at that age, where you have to make major decisions that will affect your future for good, just as our sister has said. This is not a joke. This is not a joke. I made a decision when I was in high school. I lost my life almost, almost, almost because of my own stupidity. Follow friends that will not lead me anywhere. God brought good people into my life. Church people. I was trying to act cool. I don't go to church. No heel song. I feel ashamed of my Christian friends. One day they had a fight, and this white dude took a bottle. Like a bottle, broke the bottle. He wanted to break my head. Luckily, one of my high school friends, his name is Paul. He's a preacher now. He's a preacher now. Paul is a preacher now. Paul. Paul. I think me and him were last spoke in 2020. Because he's on my Facebook. Like, I see you preaching. I see you preaching. I see God is using you. I'm like, Paul, like, I don't know. You saved my life, man. You saved my life. God used you to save my life. Paul saw the guy was trying to break my head. Paul stopped that guy from breaking my head. And this is the same Paul who is in my life, who is still a friend, and he is a man of God. As she was saying, your path can lead you to your purpose. God used this young man to save my life because me and this young man we have a similar path to be men of God. And Paul is still a man of God. But this God used this young man to save my life. I made a stupid decision. But God will always bring people to protect you. That is why in Romans chapter 8, verse 28, I believe it says, God will cause all things, all things, even your own foolishness, to work together to those who love him. Number one, you love him and you are called according to his purpose. Amen. So I am pleading with all of us don't allow yourself to be blind spiritually. Don't allow yourself to be blind mentally. Especially some of us who are here in Canada. We don't want to go back to school. We want to jump from one PSW to another. We want to jump from one factory to another, especially if you're a young person. Natan, I salute you, brother. I salute this young man. He is he is serving God, he's a worshiper, and he's a hair stylist. I'm telling you, this guy is gifted. When I saw your work, I'm like, wow. But when you see this man worshiping God, I said, Is this man my worshiper? I said, No way. I said, This man is loaded. Don't judge a book by its cover. You don't know what God has put in this man, you don't know what God has put in you. Don't underestimate the people here in Opera Room Ministry. Don't underestimate. Some of them are gonna be superstars, some of them are gonna play for Canada national football team. We have our Cristiano Ronaldo, we have our own messy from Uganda. He knows who I'm talking about. We have our own, we have to celebrate each other. Amen. To set at liberty those who oppress. Are you oppressed? You see, sometimes when we talk about oppression, we think it's all about oh, somebody has to stab you, somebody has to beat you up, somebody has to like um put a gun on your face. No, you can be oppressed mentally. Ah, that's the worst oppression. When you're oppressed mentally, that's worse than physical oppression. Do you see when God took the children of Israel out of Egypt from that physical oppression? Oh God, but they were still oppressed mentally. You see, God can save you. But if you don't allow God to save your mind, that is why the Bible said, do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind. The hardest thing to change a man is his mind. If you can change the mind of a man, you can change that man. You can move. A poor man from Uganda bring that poor man to Canada saying that this is the land of milk and money. If that poor man still has poverty mindset, no matter, no matter what you're I'm telling you, no matter the positions or the opportunities you give that poor man, believe in me. See, success is not a result, it's an ability. That is why rich people they can lose money, they can make money. A poor person can lose money, they will never be able to make it again. Jesus has come to set you free. But that freedom can also be spiritual. Are you under spiritual oppression? Especially us as Africans. When you go to bed at night, you see yourself back home. That is not a good dream. I'll find time to teach you guys about dreams interpretation. You see yourself, somebody's shooting you for no reason, someone is chasing after you. You see snakes, you see cows, you see people calling your name. That is spiritual oppression that Jesus has come to set you free from. To set you free from your own mindset. That is the hardest thing about freedom. We are not able to save our mind. When you go cuckoo, you go cuckoo. I'm telling you this. I work in social housing. I'm telling you, I see when people are not on your medication, they're okay. Ah if there's no medication, they're different people. A beautiful girl, young, beautiful girl. That girl, when she's on medication, she's so nice, she's so calm. Hey, no medication. She'll bang into the office. Hey, trouble. I have to call the security, please, for my own safety. Why? Why am I saying this? We live in a world full of people who depend on medication. Ah, God. Ah, you guys are blessed, young people that you have Jesus. I went to go see my doctor. I'm like, doctor, I'm not able to sleep. He prescribed some sleeping tablets. I'm like, you know what, Jesus? I'm gonna trust you that you make me you help me to sleep. I have two options to take that sleeping pill, you understand? To take that sleeping pill so that I can be able to sleep, and then I become so addicted to it. Oh, I know yes, I'm suffering right now because I can't sleep. That's the fact, and I'm still trusting God that God one day you're gonna make me be able to sleep. Because if I get hooked on that drug, oh God. I had friends, I had a friend that committed suicide because of mental oppression. They hear voices in their head. Child of God, this is very, very serious, especially young people are suffering as a result of this. Amen. We're almost done, and then the final thing is that Jesus came to do to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord. What is the acceptable here of the Lord? It's the day when Jesus is gonna come back, when Jesus is gonna take his people, his sons and daughters into that beautiful marriage supper. And it's also a day of vengeance when you read Isaiah, so it's a day of favor, and it's also a day of justice. So that's exactly what Jesus came to do, and then finally, he began to say this today. This scripture is fulfilling your ear. And then he said, As surely I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own country. This is sad, this is sad, especially us as Africans. Jesus told his own people, he's from Nazareth. I'm happy that God, because Jesus is from Nazareth, Jesus was a Nazareth when he explained to his own people that hey, I am the person that Isaiah is talking about. You know what they said? We know you. You're of Joseph. Oh, we know you, you're from Uganda. There's no way God can anoint you to write a book. You are a refugee. There's no way Brian God can use you. You are a refugee. Young ladies, no way. So the same attitude that the people had. You see, we black people, oh God, I'll tell you this is the fact. I've been in this country for more than six years now. White people value greatness. Black people don't value greatness, they only value greatness when it's at the top. I'm telling you. Black people only value greatness when it's at the top. White people, when they see greatness, oh my god, they will help to cultivate that greatness. Why am I saying this? Thank God my manager is not black. I'm telling you, my thank God my manager is not black. I'm not trying to be, I'm not trying to be racist against my people, but this is the mindset of us as black people. We don't support our own people, we don't celebrate our own people. We need to learn to celebrate our Musumba. She has been anointed to heal all the functions that Jesus was doing, she can do. You and I, we can also do. We shouldn't take each other for granted. Just because we're from the same village doesn't mean you can look down on me. Just because we're from the same class doesn't mean you can you can look down on me. You're not God, you don't know my future, you don't know where I'm going. When I finish high school, my own boy was asking Brian, what are you gonna do with your life? You you barely attend any class, you're a dumb and worth, you know. What are you gonna do? I said, I don't know what I'm gonna do. I don't know what I'm gonna do. I used to live in Ottawa. So God said, one of my friends snitched on me, and this guy came to my house. I wasn't home. See, God saved my life from death. I'm telling you this. I'm a living example of that. My sister was home when these Arab gangs they came, because I was also in gang. This Arab guys they came to my to my place. My sister was home, they were looking for me. They went into my room, scattered my clothes, scattered everything. And then my sister called me. Brian, don't come back to Anville. That's Ottawa, don't come back to Anville. If you have to go to the US to meet your uncle, go stay in the US. Don't come back because your boys, man, they want to kill you. So I was afraid. And then I went to the US to my uncle. I didn't like it there. I was in Maryland, I stayed there for like six months. I wanted to, I'm like, I'm like, God, you know, if I stay in the US, I have this tendency. We black people, because because we're all black, we need to act alike. And then I started having friends, you know, those African Americans, the way they talk, you know. Hey, I said, I'm an African, I'm not against that. God, it's just life that I've come. God, please help me. My uncle. Then I met this this American girl too. Ah, when you see things, I said, I'm an African man, I don't know how to do these things, you know. You won't believe what God did. God said, Come come back to Toronto. Like, how am I gonna come back to Toronto? I don't know anybody in Toronto. When I came back to Toronto, I met my uncle. And the first thing that he said was, Brian, there's a church nearby. I know you're dumb, I know you're stupid, I know you're confused. What is Muslim? He said, There's a church nearby, and I want you to go to that church. That's how God saved my life. But guess what? If I would have been familiar with my uncle, because my uncle was a Muslim, I said, Who is this man to tell me about Jesus Christ? You're a Muslim. Why am I saying this? God can use any one of us, believe in me. You understand? So reach out to my sister, read her book and pain and purpose. I read that book, it was very powerful. And I recommend young ladies read that book as well, okay? I can't wait for the second book. Let's stand and pray and then dismiss. Thank you so much for your precious time.
