SPEAKER_00:

Let me just highlight some key facts about light. We all know that for sure God is the only main source of light. And obviously, He has assigned the sun, the moon, and the stars to provide light to the earth. So we see also see that God is the creator of light. And we see the differentiation between light and darkness. Separated. Light was separated from darkness. And we we also see that in the entire scripture, the word itself, light, is so comprehensive and also expressive term. And then we can divide it into two ways, in a literal form or also in a figuratively form. Like light can be used in a very symbolic way to signify certain certain elements. And I'm gonna associate what light is according to the scripture and according to our human existence. Light is contrast with darkness, and light is also contrast with blindness. That is our sight and deception, truth versus lies. And we also see that light can also be um spoken of um figuratively and literally in a sense of life, life, living. Because when you look at John 1:4, in him was life, and the life was the light of man. So Jesus is using light as the life of man. So light also symbolizes life, our living. And if you look at John chapter 1, verse 7 to 9, it says, This man came for a witness to bear witness of the light. So you and I, you know how the Bible state that we are the light of the world. So you and I, we are pretty much like John the Baptist. You know, we we we witness, we testify about the light, but we are not the true light, we're not the big light, we're not the the greatest light, we are just a mirror of the light. We are like lamps, but Jesus is the sun, you know, we are like lamps, reflection of the sun. So that's why John the Baptist came as as um as a witness of this light, to witness about the light, and the reason why we bear the witness of the light, that way people can see our light and give glory to our Father. And then when they see our light, they were attracted to the true light, which is Jesus Christ. So our our mini lights that we have draws people to to the greater light, which is Jesus. That's exactly what John the Baptist was doing. He was not the light. The Bible explicitly states that John the Baptist was not the light, and you and I we are not the light, but we are lamps. If I may use that, instead of using the word light, I may use lamps, but was sent to be a witness of that light, and that was the true light which gives light to every man coming into the world. So just to explain light in a sense of life, and um that Jesus is the life and and he gives us light. And then if you can also look at John chapter 8, verse 12, the Bible states that Jesus spoke to them again, saying, I am the light of the world. You know, Jesus is pretty much saying that, hey guys, uh, this world needs light. I'm not talking about the um sun, the moon, and the stars pretty much giving light on the earth, but the light that he's talking about, I am the light of the world, is it's a contrast between spiritual darkness, um, uh moral darkness, um, deception, that he is it is the spiritual light, it is um the revelation that can open the eyes of people, that can open the hearts of people to receive God. So, pretty much that's what Jesus was saying: that I am the light of the world. You might say, Well, we have the sun, the sun provides light to the earth, but Jesus is pretty much saying that I am beyond the sun. And he says, Who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life. So Jesus was trying to contrast um um light with darkness in a sense that if you want to live, if you want to live, you have to accept the light of the world. So if you want to live in this world and if you want to live next life, you have to receive the light of the world. And light at times is also we can also associate light with personalization, like for example, God refers to himself as light. Obviously, we know that Christ refers to himself as light so multiple times, and then we as believers we are called light. And then when you read the scriptures, leaders are referred to leaders and ministers are referred to as light in their in their judgment, how they execute justice in society, that they should be the light in society. So, our leaders, in essence, even us as ministers, we are to be carriers of light, you know. So, light can also be personified in a person, in a spiritual sense, light is as a revelation, manifestation, and deliverance, and also spiritual life, and then in an evolent sense, obviously, divinity angels, because when you go to heaven, many people have been to heaven and the place is full of light, there's no darkness in heaven. An angel sometimes um symbolizes light when they appear, they appear in a very shining way, and then light can also be seen in a miraculous sense, meaning that supernatural light admits darkness. What do I mean by that? If you look at the children of Israel, their journey in the wilderness, God provided miraculous supernatural light, you know, it's not like the sun, the sun was providing them um light during the night. No, God actually provided miraculous supernatural light for the children of Israel. So that in that sense, we can we can say uh a light can be used in that way. So, in a mental sense, light symbolizes knowledge, truth in a moral sense. It's it's it's it's in the attribute of holiness. When we talk about light, like walking the light, we're talking about the attributes of holiness, purity, and righteousness, our way of living, you know, our lifestyle in accordance with God's word. And also, we can we can most times unbelievers they see light in a natural sense from the sun, the moon, and the stars. That's also light in a biological and physical sense. We as human beings, our eye is the primary sensory organ of sight. So when I when the reason why God gave us our eyes to be able to be visible, to see our surrounding. So light can also be used in a biological and physical sense, and and and our eyes pretty much convey information to the body vers the sense of sight. So what we see conveys information to our body. That is why people who are physically blind at times are finding it very hard to be able to uh move around because they're not able to see their surroundings, so light can be used in a biological and physical sense, and then light can also be used in an artificial sense, like for example, human human beings will make artificial light, for example, candles and lamps, these are all um representation of light, and then in a world sense, electricity makes living possible. In Africa, most countries in Africa don't have 24 hours electricity. You and I we're in Canada, we're so blessed that we have 24 hours of electricity. So, in that in that regard, light can be used in a in a worldly sense that it provides electricity, also in an economic sense, it can be used as energy for production and increased productivity. So, just just the term light, it it's so comprehensive, and pretty much what I'm trying to provide you guys is that light is part and parcel of light, life. Life is part and parcel of life. Everywhere we go, everywhere we everywhere we are, light has always been around. And and and Jesus mentioned something that is so powerful. He states that in Matthew chapter 6, verse 23, 22 to 23, that the eye is the lamp of the body. So this particular verse encompasses pretty much all the senses that we can utilize the word light, that the eye is the lamp of the body. So this eye could also be used in a physical sense that wow, what I I can see, you know, this eye is able to help me to navigate life in my surrounding. And this eye is the lamp of the body, also in a spiritual sense. I'm able to see within my spirit, you know, also in a moral sense, that my what my eye sees, if I see good things, my body will just react to good things in a mental sense. Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, that's what the mind can achieve. So our eyes, our eye is the lamp of the body, as it states in Matthew chapter 6, verse 22 to 23. I read it says, if therefore your eye is good, so whatever you see will determine your entire body. So if your eye is good and your eye is seeing good things, you then your whole body will be full of light. So pretty much what you and I we see, or we subject our eyes to see will determine what our body will receive. So if we see good things, our body will receive good things. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. Especially us, we live in a digital age where we are constantly bombarded by content. Sometimes we we we look at foolish content, and then that content internalizes in our hearts, our minds, absorbs it, and then eventually we we we start reflecting based on our actions, based on what we have seen. So that is why it's very important to be very, very careful what you see, what you set your eyes onto. When you look at the creation story, when the Bible says in the in Genesis chapter 1, verse um one to five, the Bible states that in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. So this is the condition of the state of the earth at that time. It was without form and void, and darkness was on the face of the deep. So before God started the operation of creation and making changes to the earth that was without form and void and darkness, obviously the Holy Spirit intervened. So after the Holy Spirit, guess what happened? God said, Let there be light, and there was light. So that was the first, that was a second um agent of God's creation after the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit came before light. If the earth was full of darkness, why didn't God immediately just spoke light into existence to get rid of the darkness? Why the Holy Spirit? The Spirit of God was over in the face of the deep of the waters. It's like our salvation in order for us to actually come to the Bible, because like I said, um light also represents the word of God, the truth, right? So, in order for you and I to come to the word of God, we need the Holy Spirit. So the Holy Spirit makes it possible to receive light. The Holy Spirit makes it possible because the Holy Spirit represents the power of God. So the earth was without form and dark, and the first thing that God that came about was the Spirit of God, God Himself and Spirit, and it over the face of the waters where the darkness was actually on, because the Bible said the darkness was on the face of the deep. And then after the Holy Spirit intervened, then God spoke light into existence. So an unbeliever can have access to the Bible, but they cannot, their eyes cannot be open without the Holy Spirit, because you have to be born of the Spirit for you to receive the scripture, because the author of the scripture is the Holy Spirit. So if you don't receive the Holy Spirit, then you cannot understand the the word itself, the Bible, because you don't have any relationship with the author of the scripture. So you need the Holy Spirit to actually come to the light, because he will draw you to the light. You cannot come to the light on your own, you cannot receive the light on your own. So you need the Holy Spirit. So we see that in the first creation setting. Even when you look at the second day, that was the first, I think that was the first day. And you look at the second day now. So God, when God spoke light, he divided the light from the darkness, and then he called it day, and then he called it night. And then the second day now, God said, Let there be light in the firmament. So God was pretty much putting light all over the place. So so light was spoken into existence to be able to um um control our days, night and day, to control our time, and then God also put light in place in the heavenlines, in the heaven, to have what the greater light and the lesser light, that is the stars, the sun, and the moon. So we see that light, light, light has been involved in creation. Light is part and parcel of life. Look what it says in Jeremiah chapter 4, verse 23 I be held the earth, and indeed it was without form and void. So Jeremiah was referencing the condition of the earth and the condition of the heavens. He said, I be L the earth, and indeed it was without form. That is him referencing Genesis chapter 1, verse 2. He was without form and void, and the heavens they had no light. So heavens that we see, not just the atmospheric heaven. I believe the second heaven, no light. Because God, the third heaven, there is light because God is light, and the heavens they had no light. So God had to speak light into existence so that God can start his creation process, he can start his creation work. So light is part and parcel of life. That is why Africa is underdeveloped, because we don't have constant electricity. Here in Canada, there's no way you can walk without light. You need light 24/7. So light is part of creation, light can help us to create things. And look what it says in Isaiah chapter 45, verse 6 or 7 that they may know from the rising of the sun to a setting that there's none beside me. I am the Lord and there's no other. I form the light and I create darkness. So light was formed, but God Himself is light. Okay, so so when we talk about light, also it's it's it's it's also symbolizes spiritual and mental blindness and blockage. You're completely blind, your heart is blocked, your heart is not receptive or responsive to the truth because your heart is full of darkness. Look what it says in 2 Corinthians chapter 4, verse, yeah, verse 4 says, Whose minds the God of this age has blinded. So our world is living in darkness, even though, yes, our world, our Canada, for example, we have 24 hours electricity, but spiritually, mentally, morally, Canada as a nation is blind because we're not responsive, receptive to the moral light of the world. We we cannot see spiritually. So when we talk about light, it's not just in a physical sense, it denotes the spiritual, the moral, the mental aspect of our existence, of our living. Look what it says in John chapter 1, verse 5. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot comprehend it. Some translations will say the darkness cannot conquer it. That is Jesus Himself speaking of himself that when he shines in any area that is dark, darkness cannot contain him. Where there's light, darkness is expelled. So when we talk about light, light can be used as a natural agent that stimulates sight and makes things visible. That is pretty much the purpose of light: to make things plain, visible, and clear. Sometimes as a believer, we we we we see the word of God as light, and that's where I'm gonna focus on before I close. It gives us what enlightenment, it gives us greater knowledge, understanding about content, about subject matter, about certain situations, illuminates our eye, our spiritual senses, our mental faculty. So light in the context of knowledge and revelation. So, what does light signify in a biblical sense? Like I said, light provides knowledge, understanding, and revelation. If you look at Daniel, I'm not gonna read the entire Daniel chapter 5, but if you look at Daniel, this is the description of Daniel. The Bible says in Daniel chapter 5, verse 11, there's a man in your kingdom in whom is the spirit of the holy, is the spirit of the holy God. Can you imagine? So the Holy Spirit has been around. So for Daniel to have light, Daniel needed the Holy Spirit. That oh God, I'm I'm taking you guys back to the book of Genesis when the earth was full of darkness on the face of the deep, even the heavens, there was no light. But guess what? God introduced first, God introduced his spirit to over the face of the deep, and then our gospel light into existence. So you and I, if we need light, we need the Holy Spirit. Even Daniel in the Old Testament, the Bible says, There was a man in your kingdom. This is Nabuchanizer's son. Because Nabuchanizer knew Daniel, but his son didn't know Daniel. So the people who remained were telling his son that hey, there was this man in the kingdom who was working with your father, and this man had the spirit of the living God. Look what it says, and in the days of your father, light and understanding and wisdom like the wisdom of the gods, we have found in him. The Bible mentioned light and understanding. So what Daniel had was light, and that light produced understanding and wisdom like the wisdom of gods, of gods, wow, of gods, and the spirit of God was in Daniel, but they didn't know the type of spirit that was in Daniel, so they they see it as this the wisdom of the gods, but it was not of the gods, it was of the Holy Spirit of the Holy God. Wow, he was surrounded with with with magicians, astrologers, so sayers, but this man had an excellent spirit, knowledge, understanding, interpreting dreams, solving riddles, explaining enigmas were found in this dinner. Because this man was full of light, and because he was full of light, he was full of the Holy Spirit. So, child of God, when you're full of the Holy Spirit, you're actually full of the light. You're full of the light. So the light is truth, the way things are, reality, according with facts, according to the word of God. The word of God is light. Look at what it says in 2 Peter chapter 1, verse 19 to 21. It says, and so we have the prophetic word confirm, which you do well to heed as the light that shines in dark places. So the word, the scripture itself is the light of our soul, the light of our understanding, the light of our hearts, the light of our mind. It provides light to be able to see in dark places. It's saying that knowing this verse, that no prophecy of scripture is of no private interpretation, no secretness, all of the prophecies that we see in the scripture never came by the will of man, but all the men of God, again, only men of God spoke as we are moved by what? The Holy Spirit. So I've I've noticed something that since the Holy Spirit is the author of the scripture, and the Holy Spirit comes before light, so child of God, in essence, what I'm trying to say is that you need the Holy Spirit in order for you to have light, because there's references here that we see regarding the Holy Spirit and light. That's what the Bible refers to him as the spirit of truth, and light symbolizes truth. Look what it says in 2 Timothy chapter 2, verse 15. Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Light is truth, and the word of God is truth. Look what it says in Psalm 119, verse 130. The entrance of your words gives light. So you now hearing me speak the word of God, is giving you light. You're able to see your inner man, you're able to see your outer man. The word of God gives you visibility and transparency. You can see the good and the bad in yourself, you can see the good and the bad around you because of the light of the word of God. Look at all this description when it comes to the light with reference to the word of God. The commandment is a lamp, the law is light. That is Proverbs chapter 6, verse 23. For the commandment is a lamp, and the law is light. These are all words that refers to the word of God, the scripture, the Bible, that the commandment of God, the do's and don'ts is lamp. Because He's giving you direction. Go this way, go that way, do this, do that. And the law of God is light. The law and the testimony, according to Isaiah chapter 8, verse 20, it says, To the law and to the testimony. If you do not speak according to this word, it is because there's no light in them. So in order for you to actually preach and speak and share the gospel, you have to have the light in you, and then what you are speaking, you're speaking light to that next person. Revelation opens your eyes to see the truth and then righteousness to turn from darkness to light. That's what the light can do for us, it can give us revelation. Look what it says in Luke chapter 2, verse 32: a light to bring revelation to the gentles. Again, the gentles that live in darkness, their entire world is full of darkness. So that is what the word of God can do for you and I. It provides light, and we can bring that light to the unbelievers and righteousness too. In a moral sense. Acts chapter 26, verse 18, it says, To open your eyes in order to turn from their darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in me. That's what light can do for you. Righteousness, turn you away from darkness into light, turn you away from the grip of the devil, into the embrace of God. So light, what can light do for us? Light provides information, knowledge, understanding, and insight. Light provides clarity, having certainty. You're able to see your way. You are certain, you are definite. Things are transparent with you. There's purity. It's easy for you to see and to hear. There's sharpness of what you're hearing, there's coherency. That's what light can do for you. Provide clarity in your life. Look what it says in John chapter 3, verse 21, to emphasize that. But he who does the truth comes to the light that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they may have been done in God. So light exposes you, exposes your good deeds and your bad deeds. And it also prevents confusion. Confusion. Confusion. When you're living in darkness, you are confused, you're indecisive. But what light can do for you can make clear your path, can make clear your decisions, can make clear your thoughts. Because you're thinking in alignment with the word of God. It provides leadership and direction. It governs and guides your life. It prevents you from being passive in life. Because when you're living in darkness, there's no motion. You stand still, you stand in one place. How can you move when you can't see where you're going? It makes you inactive without light. It also makes you to enter into the place of God and be in the presence of God. According to Psalm chapter 43, verse 3 says, Oh, send your light and your truth. Let them lead me, let them bring me into your holy hill and to your tabernacle. If you live in darkness, you cannot access God who is light. Because God is full of light. Sin symbolizes darkness. Righteousness symbolizes light. So if you want to be in the presence of God, if you want to be in the place of God, child of God, God has to send his light and his truth to lead you in his holy presence full of light. Light also paves our ways and our path, our course in life, the direction that we're taking, our conduct in life, our deeds. Look what it says in Psalm 119, verse 105. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light and a lap and a light to my path. So the word of God, the truth of God, can be a light to your feet to direct you, your movement, where you're going in life. How you're living your life. The word of God can guide you, can govern you because it is the light. And then light provides your destination in life. At the end of the day, you have to be in a destined place. At the end of the day, you have to be in a final location, either in hell or in heaven. At the end of the day, you have to be in a final stage in your life. So that's what the light can do for you. When you walk in the light, it helps with your decision making, it helps with your deeds. Eventually, it's going to lead you either in a good place or in a bad place. Light provides our final destination in life. Look what it says in John chapter 12, verse 35 to 36. Then Jesus said to them, A little while no longer, the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, least darkness overtakes you. He who walks in darkness does not know where he is going. If you are walking in the light, you know exactly where you're heading to. You know that you and I, as children of God, our final destination is going to be in heaven. Unbelievers, their final destination is going to be in hell because hell is full of darkness. So light actually paves the way for our destination, our final destiny in life, either in heaven or in hell. If you don't have the light, you don't know what to do. If you don't have the light, you don't know where to go. And light provides visibility of your good deeds and also exposure of your bad deeds. Look what it says in Ephesians chapter 5, verse 13. But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light. For whatever makes manifest is light. So light will give you visibility of your good deeds. That is why the Bible said, uh, walk in the light so that men will see your good deeds. The reason why you cannot walk in the light, because you are ashamed that they're not going to see your good deeds. They're going to see your bad deeds, and light definitely is going to expose your bad deeds. So it light is going to serve two functions to give you visibility of your good deeds and to expose the bad ones. It's your choice. When light provides visibility, it also helps you and I from stumbling. From stumbling in life. We don't go zigzag. Because the Bible said, in all your ways, acknowledge him, and he will direct your path, he will make your path straight. How is he going to do that? Through his word, through his will. And finally, if we need light in our lives, we need to turn to God, who is the God of light, and the one who can give us light. When we have this light, what should be our response? Number one, believe the light. Believe the light. Jesus said in John chapter 12, verse 35 or 36. I read from verse 36, while you have the light, believe in the light that you may become sons of light. You cannot be a child of light, a daughter of light, a son of light if you don't believe in the light. He's referencing himself and the word of God. So you have to believe in Jesus. You have to believe in the word of God. Because Jesus is the light of the world, and the word of God is the lamp that can guide you in this life. Look what it says in 2 Corinthians chapter 4, verse 4 to 6. Whose minds the God of this age has blinded, who do not believe. So the reason why people don't believe in the gospel is because the God of this age, Satan, who's full of darkness, has blinded the minds of people, for them not to receive the revelation, understanding of the gospel message. He says, lease the light of the gospel of the glory of Jacob. Oh my God. So when oh God, oh God, so when they receive the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. Oh my God. When they receive Christ, guess what happens? It will shine on them. It will shine on them. It will shine on them. Secondly, what can we do with the light? Walk in the light. Live out the truth. Show your light. Don't be ashamed if you're walking in the light. Don't be ashamed of being honest in your workplace. Don't be ashamed of being humble in your workplace. Don't be ashamed of exhibiting righteous deeds in front of people. Don't be ashamed. I don't care if they call, oh, all you're so honest. No, you someone once in a while you have to cheat once in a day because that's how it takes for you to make it in this life. No, that is not light. That's not you showing your light. We have to walk in the light. We have to show our light wherever we go among ourselves, in our family setting, in the workplaces, in our transactions, in our businesses, dealing with people, our neighbors, our communities. We have to live in the light, walk in the light so that people can see the light and glorify God. Look what it says in John chapter 3, verse 21. But he who does the truth comes to the light. So if you're living according to the truth, you're not going to be ashamed of the light. You're not going to be afraid coming to the light. Because the light and truth and light go hand in hand. Light welcomes the truth. Light welcomes purity. Light welcomes righteousness. The reason why people, when they come to the light, they are afraid is because they have been living in darkness. That's why Jesus said they reject the light because their dates are evil. They prefer to live in darkness. So if you don't want the light to expose you, you want to come to the light and you want the light to embrace you, then child of God, live in the light. Live in the light. We should all live in the light. So we are standing in the presence of light. We don't feel exposed. We feel embraced because our lifestyle matches to the light. That his deeds may be clearly seen, that they may have been done in God. Look what it says again in John. It says, it said, walk while you have the light in John chapter 12, verse 35. Walk while you have the light. Because there's going to be evil days that are going to come. They're going to test to see if you're going to live in the light. Walk while you have the light. So you cannot walk if you don't have that light within you. You have to have the light within you. You have to have Jesus within you, who is the light. You have to have the word of God within you, which the word of God is light, before you know enough for you to walk it out. And then finally, speak and share the light. Don't be ashamed to speak about this light. The reason why at times we're ashamed to speak about the light because we're not living in the light. We're not living in light. So that's why we don't have a good testimony in our workplace. We don't have a good testimony among our children because we're not living the light. We're not walking in the light. So there's no way we can speak about the light. There's no way we can share the light. But when we have the life in us, we can speak according to the word. Isaiah chapter 8, verse 2020. It says, To the law and to the testimony, if we do not speak according to this word, it's because there's no light in you. If you don't speak the scripture, it's because the scripture is not in you. If you don't speak about this light, it's because the light is not in you. Light attracts light. Proclaim the light to the gentiles and to the Jew. That's what I believe was it Peter or Paul? I don't know which one. Acts chapter 26, verse 23 says. So that the Christ will suffer, that he'll be the first to rise from the dead and will proclaim light. Again, he said, I am the light of the world. Look what it says. To proclaim the light, not just to the Jewish people, also to the gentiles, because Jesus is the light of the world. And he has come to proclaim light to the Jewish people and to the gentles. And the Bible says, We are the lights of the world. We are the little lamps, and Jesus is the main light. So I conclude with this, child of God, believe in the light, walk in the light, share the light. Gracious Father, I thank you for your word. What we have heard today. God, may you help us, Lord, to first of all to receive the light in us. Wherever there's darkness that is standing in our way from receiving this light, may you expose them in our own personal lives. May you expel them completely in the mighty name of Jesus. May you help us to believe the light of your Son Jesus Christ so that he can shine in us. May you also help us to believe in the light of your word. May you also help us to walk in the light, in righteousness, in purity, oh God, so that we're not ashamed, so that we're not exposed, oh God, but we are visible, but people can see the good works that you are doing us. And finally, Lord, may you help us to speak, to share the light, because the world is full of darkness. People need the light, oh God, so that they can believe, so that we can destroy the works of the devil, controlling their minds from believing, blinding their eyes from seeing, blocking their hearts from receiving, oh God. May we be the light of the world, starting from within ourselves, starting in our homes, in our church, in our workplaces, in our communities, in the rest of the world. This we ask in Jesus' precious, powerful name we have prayed. Amen. God bless you. Thank you.
